Challenge: Drink More Water!

You know the old rule of thumb: eight glasses of water a day, every day. That quota -- equal to about 2 liters -- is just a general guideline, but most people fall short. Time to hydrate! Challenge yourself to drink 2 liters of water per day this week.

Day 01
0 /4 steps completed
  1. 1
    Morning: Drink up!
Eating breakfast? Getting dressed? Driving to work? Whatever you happen to be doing, drink two glasses of water (or a small bottled water) while doing it. Half a liter down, 1.5 liters to go.
  2. 2
    Lunchtime: Drink up!
Salty pretzels got you parched? Perfect! Drink two glasses of water (or a small bottled water) to quench your thirst. One liter down, one to go.
  3. 3
    Afternoon: Drink up!
Bad case of the mid-afternoon yawns? Drink two glasses of water (or a small bottled water). 1.5 liters down, half a liter to go.
  4. 4
    Evening: Drink up!
Relaxing at home? Hitting the town? Doesn't matter, as long as you drink two glasses of water (or a small bottled water). 2 liters down!

Prep Steps & Tips

  • Keep a water bottle with you at all times

Do you have one of those metal or hard-plastic water bottles kicking around your kitchen cabinet? Give it a rinse and bring it with you wherever you go.

  • Buy a case of bottled water

Toting around a metal bottle not your thing? No problem. Although it's not as friendly for the environment, buying a case of 24 half-liter bottles at the supermarket is convenient and will help you track your progress. As the bottles disappear, you can literally see how hydrated you are.

  • Ease up on coffee, soda, and alcohol

Sticking to this challenge will be easier if you dial back your intake of other beverages. Alcohol actually dehydrates you, but even non-alcoholic drinks like coffee, tea and soda might distract you from your two-liter-per-day goal. If you're not already quenching your thirst with a soda, you'll be more likely to reach for that water bottle!

  • Set an alarm

If you're like us, you sometimes get so busy at work or at home that you actually forget to hydrate. If you're having trouble remembering to drink water, set your smartphone alarm to go off in the morning, at lunchtime, in the afternoon, and during the evening. The reminder will help you stay on track.
